You can assign multiple tax rates to an item in Sapaad by grouping individual tax rates. This is called a group tax rate. The Sapaad POS automatically adds these tax rates to the customer’s invoice upon billing, streamlining your payment operations. 

To configure multiple tax rates for an item, you need to:

  1. Set up individual tax rates.
  2. Create Group Tax Rates.
  3. Set up multiple tax rates for menu items.

Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1. Set up individual tax rates

  • Step 1: Go to Setup > Location Setup.
  • Step 2: Select the Location where you want to update the menu.
  • Step 3: Click Menu Management > Tax Rates.
  • Step 4: Turn on the toggle for “Tax Rate for Item is”
  • Step 5: Click Add a Tax Rate.
    • Type the name of the Tax Rate
    • Add the tax percentage
      • Optional: Select Set as Default if you want to add this tax rate for all items. 
    • Click Save.
  • Step 6: Add the rest of the tax rates following Step 5 above. 

2. Create Group Tax Rates.

  • Step 1: Go back to the Tax Rates screen. 
  • Step 2: Select Combine Taxes into a Group.
  • Step 3: Create a name for this tax group. 
  • Step 4: Select the tax rates to be included in the group. 
    • Optional: If you want to assign this tax rate to all menu items, select Set as Default.
  • Step 5: Click Save.

3. Set up multiple tax rates for menu items. 

  • Step 1: Go to Menu Management > Menu. 
  • Step 2: Search for your menu items. You can use the search box or the category names. 
  • Step 3: Beside the name of the menu item, select the name of the Group Tax Rate from the dropdown menu. 
  • Step 4: Go back to Setup > Menu Setup.
  • Step 5: Click Refresh POS Online Menu. 

You can now link multiple menu items with the correct multiple tax rate you need within your POS.
